That was me Rharv, thank you, i'll keep rubbing it in here:

I recently was forced to switch to USB as my older RME UFX still had firewire 1394a, and the new UFX ii model doesn't anymore. This because since switching to Windows 10 from 7 i had firewire issues, also with legacy driver settings.

My point is that USB (2.0, and 3.0?) is not always working perfect, as firewire did on Windows 7. I have quite often an audio dropout stutter, most of the time a single hiccup. Never had that with firewire. Is USB too universal?. It definitely needs some priority setting regarding realtime audio and maybe video hardware.

PS I remember my old parallel port Delta 1010; used that for more than 12 years, also with a PCI card, alas that slot is no more on my current ASUS x99 PC mainboard. This Delta model never gave any problems with windows XP, and windows 7 64bit.

The reason i am continuing with Windows 10 is that i really got fed up with those permission issues from installers and the yearlong registry buildup causing more and more fatal errors needing a revert to an earlier True Image saved boot partition. Windows 10 in my case boots up twice as fast and runs very stable, only this USB gives me headaches.

PS windows 10 needs quite a bit of tuning, WIN10privacy and similar tools can be of great help turning off all those unwanted MicroShit spying and delaying your system in the background.

Some Firewalls can be especially bothering USB timing, Bitdefender is a NoNo IMO, and graphic gamers acceleration stuff also hampers USB realtime traffic. F
