What software?
If using RB:
Erase track:
select track and use Track - Erase
Cutting tracks:
Highlight the section of the tracks you want to lose and use Edit - Cut
Pay attention to the Close Gap check box and use as needed.
If you cut the data and leave the space it may still get processed as empty space. If you Close Gap, it doesn't.
How big is the file? I've had close to 1 GIG files not take anywhere near that long to render. Maybe 10 minutes at most.
I suspect something else is wrong with the system.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome
