What your saying is a practical suggestion. Perhaps you can add the suggestion to the Band-in-a-Box wish list and I'd support the suggestion.

Having said that I can understand why it would be difficult and perhaps impractical to implement. A different process or method is used to change tempo or pitch offline when the program is not playing audio versus realtime while the program is playing audio. An offline method uses much less cpu and memory resources than an online method.

Band-in-a-Box presently uses an offline method. My guess is offline was chosen so the program will operate properly on older and less powerful computers.
