I think I muted the 4/4 bar and then unmuted at the start. If you render the song and put it in Audacity or other editor you can paste in some silence, and fade in the medley.
The difference between 4/4 and 3/4 is easy unless I'm trying to dance with you and it gets ugly. My arthritic hips complicate it but my wife claims | can't waltz at all.
So you get ONE two three four, One two three four (4/4) ...or
ONE two three, ONE two three, One two three (3/4|) so it's the first number is the number of beats to the bar.
