After an extensive internet search, I finally found the guitar chord chart I'm looking for, here (scroll down to Basic Guitar Chord Chart)

http://musi-source.blogspot.ca/search/label/Guitar%20chord%20charts

However, I need a hardcopy, and the only way I can see to get this off the 'net is in .jpg format, which doesn't print very well.

Does anyone either
- know how to get this in a "better" format (say, PDF)?
- know where I can get the exact same set of chords in chart form from somewhere else?

Help!
Thanks.

Maybe one of these will help:

The last two you will have to copy and place in your browser. I have to run out, again!

if you're running windows and have microsoft print to pdf & chrome

right click on the image and open in a new tab then select that tab
choose print from the chrome 3 dot menu on the right
select the print to pdf option
select the mor setting options and enter a number for the scale if desired
click on print

I tried the above method.
It worked fine except that by the time it got to hardcopy, it was still not very good quality.

Thanks!

The problem is that the on-screen image is blurry already. Maybe the best bet is to capture it as JPG and load it into an image editing program and see if you can use one of the image sharpening tools (I think IrfanView can do this, but can't check right now).

It's not likely you will find a way to produce a good .pdf from a
fuzzy screen shot. Is it the jazz chart or the basic chord chart
that is wanted? A little confusing. The chart I am seeing is way
to long to print screen. It would have to be edited, and the quality
is just not there.
You should be able to find a chord chart download somewhere.
Is there a reason you don't buy one from a music store?
The cheapest and best way to produce .pdf from screen graphics
is a combination of a good screen capture program such as Snipping
Tool (Built into Windows) a graphic editor such as MS Paint,
a free desktop publisher named "Scribus," and a decent .pdf handler
such as Fusion.
(Fusion may cost a few dollars, but worth it.)
http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-screen-capture-tool.htm
Don't expect to learn this overnight, but know, the process of
creating your own .pdf from available tools opens up the world of
desktop publishing, kissing word processing good bye.

I use Techsmith Snagit for screen capture, and it does a great job. But of course still, fuzzy in, fuzzy out.

I worked with graphics programs for many years so I'm comfortable in the various formats and conversions.

What I'm after is a one-page printout that shows these particular chords. I have a "basic" chord sheet, showing the 3 chords in the major keys. I want to laminate that, back to back with the more advanced chord sheet for a grandson, just learning to play guitar.

If all else fails, I may have to bite the bullet and create my own from scratch.

Thanks all!

Since you said basic chords – I can suggest this spiral-bound book but look for a "Good" condition one at least, it will be a lifetime reference

https://www.amazon.com/488-Guitar-Chords-explaining-fingerboard/dp/0849404509

but when ready to move beyond and have more "jazzy" sounding chordal voicing, more interesting/pleasing sounding, and not using many, if any, barre, open, or first position chords and want hard copy reference

Ted Green’s Chord Chemistry and his Modern Chord Progressions

https://www.amazon.com/Modern-Chord-Progressions-Classical-Voicings/dp/0898986982/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=

However, unless you have 20/10 eyesight DO NOT GET the Kindle version’s!

If you want a handy on-screen app that works OFF LINE (~$20)

http://www.gootar.com/chordgen/

There are multiple places ON-line ones, that will do same thing as Gootar and for free, that will show you chords dynamically (you ask it shows) but I like OFF-LINE apps. Also, I'm sure there are even FREE off-line apps, I've never looked since I have Gootar.

Speaking of off-line don’t forget our very OWN PG Music provided one, or sold separately (depending on what BIAB pack you bought and when), the Guitar Chord (and Piano Chord) dictionaries

I have the first book you posted, Larry. Mine was given to me by a guitar playing friend of mine. Outs a good resource.

Yep it is a very GOOD reference and its recommended fingerings are usually the best. But as with anything sometimes other fingerings are better, faster, or easier depending situation and player.

It has "all the chords" (Dire Straits sarcasm notwithstanding) all meaning "essentially all" or "for all intents and purposes." Besides the boring Maj, min, m7, Maj7, it has all those with extensions #5/b9, b9/b5, 11's and 13's (with previous 9/5 treatments), Sus (aka Sus4), augmented, etc.

It does NOT have the b3b7#5#9 chord (one of the C7Alt spellings/variations) but I think all the others grin

Again when I say "all" I mean if you know/learn the enharmonic's, spelling's, alternate names (e.g., a Maj-min is also known as a Cm#7) and alternate notations (e.g., they don't call a Cm7-5 a half-diminished or use the null symbol [circle with slash] to represent it , etc.).

Also, it does NOT use jazz "chart" or jazz "chord" notation. E.g., things like a "-" for minor, or a triangle for Maj chord (triangle = a plain triad, get it) but then again if you can read and understand various charts then you probably know what the chord name is.

Bobc: I was hoping to get a chart with the same chords as my original example but I'll check out others in your links and see what I can find.

Jim: I need a page-size sheet.

Larry: similarly, I need a one-page at-a-glance reference.

When I'm helping these kids get started in playing along at (say) a family jam session, I give them this basic chord sheet for a reference as they learn:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/ss6deyyjgq7aosb/GuitarChordDiagrams_Basic3b.pdf?dl=0

I created it using the Personal Strum font, adding the other info myself.
I just wanted to put the more advanced chord sheet (shown in my OP) on the back of it.

Thanks all, I'll keep looking.

I think we all got what you were looking for, for myself I went overboard but it was intended "for later," when they learn basics and want to move slightly past "You Are My Sunshine," "How Great Thou Art,"... "Louie Louie," (Joke, please smile on that last one)

But Jim's 2x3 foot chart, a few posts above, I think fits most all - I (optional vi) IV V - songs and with any likely extensions you might need, but it will cost you $5.50 + I assume a shipping charge (but for a poster it can't be much). And for that price you could buy one for each kid to take home.

In any case, good luck and glad you got kids interested in playing/learning music!

LLoyd,

I remember when I was just starting out that I had chord charts, scale charts and arpeggio charts hanging around me. I had posters similar to what I posted.

It didn't take long before I realized that if you can play chords, scales and arpeggios in a variety of styles, then you can play any song you want to play.

Plus, ... some of those posters look pretty cool so they make good wall art if you're a kid.

Bob:

Wouldn't it be nice if the kids these days would look up from their electronic devices to a poster on the wall !!

Nonetheless, I'll pass on your info.

Thanks!
