Hi Folks

I am working on a song here. I have my Mottif ES7 hooked up to my PC ad I am using Band in a Box Megapak 2008.5 and also Cubase SX5. Here is what I want to do. I have a 1>6>2>5 progression song I am sequencing in Cubase sx3 but I need a piano solo from say, measure 50 to measure 60. I want to make BAND IN A BOX generate this solo for me. The track in cu base sx3 that I need thi piano solo imported into is track # 9. Track 1-8 are occupied. How do I generate this solo in BIAB and get it into track 9 of my DAW?

Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much y'all. By the way, I have been using POWER TRACKS ALSO but for some reason or another, my Lexicon Omega interface is not going well in Power tracks. I have been getting error messages, doesn't matter what I have tried. I keep getting an error message that says something like " This device is untested with Power Tracks..bla bla blah !! Anyways, that is why I am using Cubase sx3 as my DAW. It WORKS perfectly with my Omega interface. So I have uninstalled POWER TRACKS and I use band in a box and the Cubase SX3.

Thanks for your replies y'all/

jah.
firstly your missing something important.
viz ..if you use powertraks when you import a song done in biab..
bam, all your settings are there. from biab.
if you use another sequencer , you lose this facility.

re the omega..blah blah comment...
go into cubase and note down what omega drivers cubase is useing
for audio input and output , and midi input and output.
haveing noted them. set up your powertraks audio and midi drivers the same.
POWERTRAKS PREFERENCES.
have you done this ??
if not , try it and report back.
it is very important to read the powertraks documentation on setting up drivers.
how some people would work is to do the song basics in biab,
then load up the song in powertraks...do any added fine tuning of the traks,
then save the midi song and load into say cubase or whatever for added
song development or stay in powertraks to finish the song.

you mentioned traks 1 thru 8 are occupied in cubase.
are these midi ?? or audio traks ??

i'm just a powertraks user , but its my understanding to do a solo
in biab you clik the soloist button .
and then choose a soloist profile.
have you read the biab documentation and help on this feature ??
on the pg site are a slew of how to's under support also and faq's.

how do you want the trak to end up in cubase ??
for example..do you want the solo routed out to the motif as midi ,
and then record the resulting audio from the motif as an audio trak in cubase.
is this what you want to do ??
if this is the case youll need to set up the motif to do this.
(consult your motif mnanual.)
OR..do you just want to import the solo as a midi trak into cubase ??
then have cubase talk to the motif ??
and record the resulting audio from the motif back into cubase ??
or do you want to use synth plug ins in cubase ??

more details on what your trying to do would help people help you.
ps..read your biab help pertaining to the soloist in detail..
till someone comes along who knows all the in depth details of
the soloist. it should all be there in biab help docs. n the biab manual docs etc.

Seems to me the easiest way would be to set up your chord structure in BIAB. Generate your soloist for the bars you want, then save the soloist instrumentation as a wave file - this should keep the count-in and timing for the soloist track and would enable you to import the rendered wave soloist on whatever track you want in whatever software you want.

Report back. Cheers - Ian

Hi Mr Ian

Thanks for your reply. The lead guitar rock solo that I want to generate in Biab is from one of the built in styles that came with BIAB mega pak 2008.50. So I want to generate it and then paste it into track 9 of my cu base sx3 SOFTWARE. I will follow the direction you gave me in your reply. Now here is another question. I observe that this particular style in BIAB.....loops. So how do I tell BIAB how many measures I need from this song? I clicked on the SOLOIST buttons and I am trying to figure out what must I do now.

Reply me back soon. Thanks so much

Hi

When you open the Soloist window look to the bottom left you'll see "Custom" - you set the length of your solo here. Now usually I use 1 long chorus for BIAB. If you are using something like 3 choruses you'll have to check the manual to see how you adjust "custom" to deal with that.

Cheers
