You gotta love the first comment on the Ratstand page is "it's kinda heavy". Well, yeah. Big band books are kinda heavy too, idiot. You need a stand to handle that weight especially if you're standing up. I have to say I like the different ways that Rat Stand folds up. Looks useful. Bob

I LOVE the RatStands. I wouldn't say it is heavy, especially when collapsed into the size of just the shelf and carried in the accessory bag they sell. But it is stable, you're right about that, despite being what I think is light. I have never had to put weights on it like I have on a Manhasset.
The best thing is, I cycle between two houses and always carry a music stand in the car. This thing takes up no room at all, unlike the Manhasset or ProLine stands (and wire is out of the question for serious gigs).
