Well Reaper is the best for allowing you to evaluate it without taking your money, just a five second nag screen at start.

I have it on my computer and do update, haven't bought a licence because I don't use it to record. I do like Cubase for that.

On the above point alone there is no doubt about it,
"Reaper is the best by far"
