I'm with Eddie on this one and I know this is a very highly debated issue.

We have guns in our house and I have a pistol permit for New York State. Hopefully I will soon have one for many other states. Why? Because the wife and I take walks and I want to be able to protect her from some of the nuts that are out there.

I do not believe everyone should be able to purchase a gun and I do believe that a country wide mandatory background check should be done prior to getting a permit. Our state has one of the most stringent background checks.

What we need are severe penalties for those illegally getting and/or using guns. We also need to eliminate gun free zones. Most of the mass murders are done in gun free zones. Why? Because the criminal knows that no one there will have a gun.

To those whom believe that banning guns will eliminate the problem you should be very happy that there are no illegal drugs in our country. After all illegal drugs have been banned for decades.
