My experience has been that it's been pretty easy to install the license locally (to use) and then shove it back to the cloud if need be when you are done.

I do have a few libraries that give me two authorizations. So for those, I install one license locally on the machine that I don't care to attach the dongle to, and then install the other license on the dongle (which I can move freely between my other two machines, depending upon the one I'm working on). And then if it happened that the first machine completely died (which won't happen, because I have Acronis Images), but if it did, I could still use the dongle license. Best of both worlds.
