It's called the wisdom of old age Pat. First, is your own health. Getting upset all the time is not good for you. You can feel it as extra stress and you don't need that. Second is you've seen it all before so many times it hardly registers any more. You just go oh, another one. The hippies called it mellowing out and it definitely works.

I live in LA and of course what's the biggest gripe around here? Traffic and road rage. Like Eddie I'm totally aware of what's going on around me on the freeway, all the texting, all the speeding, all the near misses, everything. But, I don't participate any more, don't get upset at it, don't flip someone off, don't let someone get in front of me like I used to etc. But you have drive pretty aggressively or you'd still be waiting to make a lane change for the next exit from two hours ago.

Am I some perfect monk character? Oh, hell no. There are times...I have a little bit of Buford T Justice in me from Smokey And The Bandit. He's about to blow his top, his stress beeper goes off and mid rant he holds out his arms and goes Ommmmmmm. Yeah, I've done that a few times recently but mostly I just shrug stuff off now.

I don't have a problem with stress, I'm not on meds for it or anything but when something happens that sets me off I feel it right in the middle of my chest. Nothing specific like pain, possible heart attack or anything like that, just a general feeling that something's wrong, you know? I force myself to control the breathing, let it go and that feeling goes away pretty quickly.

Mellow out, no negative vibes...

Bob
