I'm glad you got it working.

Since you said Demo Version of Coyote DXi, I presume you mean the Coyote Forte (as the Coyote WT is fully functional). Since that works, you now have DXi MIDI capability. You can also install the Coyote WT concurrently (however, the Coyote Forte sounds much better).

I believe that if you want to keep the Coyote Forte, it costs $40 for a license code that unlocks the software. I've had it since it came out many, many, many years ago.

Once the demo period runs out, you either get silence or blips in your music (I can't remember which). And you can't uninstall/reinstall to get more time, as it remembers your previous install.

There really aren't a lot of choices for general MIDI: the Coyote WT, the Coyote Forte, the Cakewalk TTS-1 (which you get when you buy one of the Cakewalk DAWs), or one of the handful of Soundfont based Synth VSTi's (such as SynthFont).
