I for one LOVE 'em.

But not everybody is ready to play with the likes of Ray Brown et al.

The answer here is likely to be done by getting PGMusic to make some more Bass RealTracks, with more simplified playing styles.

Those who have to listen to hear the root at all times need that.

Well, what they really need is to start working at being able to know where the Tonic is at all times, in their heads. This takes time. Well. Worth. It. Am recalling the old music school improv drill of "never playing the tonic". That can expand the soloing abilities as well as the knowledge of the changes into an internalized thing. Along with forcing the entire solo to be played within the range of one octave. Drills like that make ya start thinking when playing.

Opens up a lot of things for you if you do elect to spend that time on the ears.

But it likely isn't for everybody.
