November 22, the lost celebration...

I got Bach going for the morning...then maybe some medieval cd's later!

In earlier times in the US Chicago and New York had masonic lodges called St. Cecilia's Lodges, who met on Saturdays during the day, and were for the musicians and actors who worked during the weeknights when most lodges were held.

As Roberston Davies said, "we have become a generation of listeners, not singers".

Or in my words, "how recorded music killed family music."

Sousa did not want his bands recorded and firmly held that people should attend the concerts and local music....but we are where we are I guess..

November 22, the date we celebrate the patron saint of music, at least our CBC radio 2 has a St. Cecila's Day broadcast of chorale music...
