I can't make excuses for the lack of a splash screen, but I can easily understand how it can occur.

When developing and rigorously testing software, it's possible to use 'special build directives' that bypass some unnecessary features so that the software can launch and the tests can be conducted more quickly.

One of the obvious items is to bypass unnecessary items like the splash screen.

Perhaps such a build directive was incorporated, and then accidentally not removed when the version was released.

If this is the case, it's no big deal in terms of operations, but has been witnessed by the users, and reported because it is unexpected. Which is all good.

Just my take on it and I could be totally incorrect.
