Hello, Kenny
This is a very nice idea. I had also loved to buy 45s in my childhood. A side - melancholy song and B side - rock'n'roll song. Yes there were many records of the same combination. Your vocals are splendid both side. I prefer B side this time. Enjoyed my listen a lot.
Best regards.
Shigeki Adachi Thank you Shigeki, 45s were so cool weren't they? I'm glad that you like the B side, it's a romp, appreciate your kind words

Wow, great work on both of these Kenny! Got to say, I really enjoyed both - but Just A Kiss Away blew me away! Someone else mentioned it too, but it's just a fantastically written song. It instantly connected with me. It's perfectly emotional, catchy, and just pretty in every aspect. I really liked the upbeat and dancy vibe of Corvette too I can imagine it filling a dancefloor at a live show! Thanks so much for sharing
Cheers, Deryk

Great sound in your 45': I prefer "Just a kiss away" but the other side is also great.

Hi Kenny,
Just listened to both songs - really cool! I somewhat prefer the "A" side. Love the slide. The "B" side says "Jerry Lee" to me all the way through. That pounding piano carries the song. Great guitar work, too! Love the idea and both songs are stellar.
About two weeks ago Di and I were having a conversation along the lines of your comments. We were talking about the generally unheard great songs on the "B" side of the 45s and what a shame they never got the attention they deserved.
A couple of our faves were:
"We Will Rock You" (Queen) - "B" side of "We Are The Champions" "Every Day" (Buddy Holly) - "B" side of "Peggy Sue" "Colour My World" (Chicago) - "B" side of "Beginnings" .... Our Favorite.
Super job, Kenny! Always a pleasure to tune you in.
Alan Thanks Alan, I was hoping that folks would respond with 45 memories, I remember my first year on the road, had an 8 track and News of the World good times. appreciate the kind words

Kenny,
WOW. WOW. WOW. You blew me away with "Just A Kiss Away".
Perfect in every way. A hit. A top level write. The lyrics is memorable. The melody even more so. SO very sing-able...
Your vocal is over-the-top good. Star material. (The harmonies are really nice, too).
The instrumentation is excellent. Quality. The harmonica solo was a surprise - and VERY tastefully done. Outstanding mix.
Outstanding everything. I can STILL hear the song in my head - with only a single listen - the sure sign of a hit. I will definitely go back for several more listens...
"Corvette" - a perfect B-side. A very clever idea!! It has that B-side feel of "the band loves this, so we hope you do, too". Again, super everything - great use of The BAND - the piano parts are exquisite. Super mix, super vocal. Will no doubt be listened to a bunch after I've worn out side A...
You are killing it, Mr. Leverett. WOW.
floyd
I don't know if I'm worthy of all your great compliments but they make my day thanks

Some great songwriting and excellent performance all round. Great contrast between the two songs and a really wonderful A side.

I enjoyed Corvette - a rocking way to 'recover" from the strong emotions of the A side. Still, have to say, Just A Kiss Away is soo good- and the way that harp break fits with the resonator is a little touch of magic I missed the first listen.
Robert Thanks Robert, appreciate the kind words on the B

Corvette is great! Just a Kiss Away is off the charts!! (and should be on the charts!). Love the concept of the 45s (remember buying I got a Name by Jim Croce, and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road on the same trip to the Wherehouse). Some great stuff here! One critique (which I only make because I love the song SO MUCH) is that I think the resonator gets in the way on the vocal parts at times but I love its use as the lead instrument between vocals. WONDERFUL STUFF Kenny!!! Take care. Greg

Apply outa the park great to the following: - the concept - the writes - the vocals - the arrangements - the rt choices (dobro sounds like it played for YOU and so does the piano on Corvette) - the mix Man, you set the piano on fire and walked off stage. And you throw two killer songs out here in one post. If, I could write two like that I'd milk 'em dry! Amazing, J&B PS Janice is singing away on Just a Kiss and dancing away with Corvette! She says she can't stop her feet Thanks so much guys, greatly appreciate your support and kind words

Kenny, both are strong songs. Like the "A" side for its completeness - lyrics, melody, the whole song is there. Like the "B" side for its energy and fun. Great concept. I used to collect 45's as a child, too. Brings back a lot of good memories!
Steve
Steve, thanks for the listen and kind words, yes, good memories of the turntable and 45s

Hey Kenny,
I also loved buying 45's back in the day and still have most of the ones I bought. And yeah, lot's of hidden treasures on the 'B' side.
Great idea to bring that concept back as part of a modern song release! I liked both songs, "Just A Kiss Away" is my favorite of the two, so a perfect 'A' side, and "Corvette" is a perfect hidden jem 'B' side.
Thanks for the link to the Harrison tune as well, I'm a fan of his but missed that one somehow.
Thanks Dave, appreciate your support and kind words I'm surprised how many never heard this Harrison song, so glad to be able to share it.

Hi Kenny,
Back after a little break over the summer and had to pick this one out to review!
Listened to Corvette first, because I just new that with a title like that I was gonna love it and I did - everything about it. But then I got a real surprise when I listened to the "A" side. This is knock-out. Absolutely fabulous from the opening chords through to the finish.
Couldn't find fault with anything about it. This is your best ever, Kenny. You've excelled yourself.
ROG.

Really like both of these a lot.
Just a Kiss Away has a very strong quality to it, a feeling of artistic confidence.
You have really come into your own Kenny.

I have a box of old 45s here so now, thanx to you, I will have to listen to them again.
Just a Kiss Away is one fantastic song. I can see the group Smokie doing this one. Great lyrics, mix and super outstanding vocals! This should get air play IMHO.
Corvette took me back to my muscle car days. Drag racing my '69 Mustang against Chevy SSes, Corvettes and Mopars, with the radio blasting those old car songs. We could hardly hear the radio because of our loud Cherry Bombs but it was blasting. Thanx for the flashback!
IMHO neither song deserves the B side.
Two thumbs up.
The bumper sticker said "I'm a veterinarian, therefore I can drive like an animal". Suddenly I realized how many proctologists are on the road.
64 bit Win 10 Pro, the latest BiaB/RB, Roland Octa-Capture audio interface, a ton of software/hardware
