I am trying to get a "slide down" effect in my horns. It was suggested I use the Pitchbend wheel on my synth. This works while playing live, but the effect does not record to a PT midi track.
Any suggestions?
Thanks so much!

I received an email from Native Instruments (the maker of the horn VSTi I use) that in order to get the effect I want I must automate the MIDI pitchbend within the D.A.W. MIDI / Instrument Track.
How do I go about this?
Thanks as always - Bernie

Using MIDI pitch bend requires knowing which MIDI control change code (CC) the VSTi instrument uses for pitch bend.

PG Music has a print out of the MIDI CC standard +++ HERE +++

Pitchbend should record from the synth as a Control Change event (CC) to PT.

Have you looked at the Event List for the track to make sure it didn't record?

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

As rharv suggested the best way to find out is to move the VSTi pitch bend wheel then look in the event list to read what CC code was recorded.

Hi - a pitchbend does show up in the event list, but when I listen to the midi track, it does not occur.
Please advise - thanks!

Hey, Bernie -

Which NI library are you using?

If I can find some time, I'll try recording something with a pitch bend in it.

A. Is the pitchbend CC message on the same MIDI channel as the MIDI track you expect it to affect?
B. What is the CC change number it is sending?

Interestingly, when I record a midi track and apply pitchbend it plays back fine. However, when I apply Session Horns to the track, no pitchbend is heard.
Suggestions?

https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/native-instruments-session-horns

"The pitch wheel's three modes determine whether it functions as a traditional pitch-bend or as a trigger for the doit and fall articulations mentioned earlier. When triggering doits or falls, upward movement selects doits, while downward movement selects falls; the two triggering options are note-on and note release. The falls also have two speeds, ..."

May be a configuration issue (?)

Hi, I know this is very late and the issue maybe solved but it seems simple to go into the Piano Roll up the top where it says View/Edit there is a dropdown set it to Pitchbend then in the lower portion of the Piano Roll screen put in your shape.

It is much easier in the system I use where one can simply use a line similar to the volume on a track. I don't know why the option only has volume and not others but the the Piano Roll works fine albeit a bit harder to use.

My thoughts
