that can also be done in the Mac version however i have never been able to find an explanation as to the specific purpose for marking or identifying bars.
I would appreciate reading your take on this and how you use this method .

I don't specifically use bar based section letters, although it was me who made the WishList suggestion to add numbers as well as letters.
The numbers could be used to denote when there is a time signature change, e.g. place a 3 when the signature changes to 3/4 and a 4 when the signature changes to 4/4, etc. It is difficult to tell this information from the chord chart without some form of hint.
Another use could be to assist where a particular instrument takes a solo, etc. Place a G for the guitar solo, maybe? Perhaps T for a tempo change, or R for Rallentando at the end of a song.
