I just tried by selecting/loading a midi based demo song.

I played/selected the BASS track parts in notation and lead sheet mode and the notes played in red as the song played.

I played/selected the PIANO track parts in notation and lead sheet mode and the notes played in red as the song played.

Perhaps when you select " lead sheet " reset it to default and see if that fixes your problem. In the upper left hand corner of " lead sheet " select/click option and that will open the settings window where you can make changes or revert back to default.
