Well, I not sure what I did, but I went back to the original file (was working on copy for above experiment) and I WAS able to export an exact midi file using that style. I had tried 3 or 4 times, but kept getting files that were empty except for the click track. I think it may have been changing preferences under Realtracks to check the box that said "Save Realcharts in Midi Files."

So appreciate all the advice!
