The reality between open and closed back cans for tracking..... you will get bleed from both kinds.... more from the open, less from the closed, but it also depends on how loud you are running the cans.

I used some buds... the good kind with isolation and even when they were cranking, there was very little bleed.

A little bleed isn't going to kill your mix. 99% of the time the bleed is the guitars and such and when you mix, they will be many dB louder than that bleed will ever be. The only time it becomes an issue is if you do a production edit to remove the instrument and replace it with silence. That's where you also need to edit the bleed to silence.

The thing that irritates me more than bleed ever will is the noises..... lip smacks and such things in the vocal track. Yep.... those get surgically mute edited out.
