Ok I think then that it is a matter of changing skins - I use Pacific Salmon
That one is bright and shows the note name very clearly - this color scheme is by Alannah and therefore the line should be editable
Prefs > Colors > Color schemes > select from dropdown OR select from list on the left and - Choose - color to requirement
I agree why anyone should choose black letters on grey
