A song for Valentine's day.

The drums are taken from the DRVBRIT.STY
The bass and piano are from the KBALLAD.STY
The viola and violin are taken from the STRFOLK.STY

I provided the fingerstyle electric guitar and vocals.
I used my Roland GR-20 guitar synth for the angelic vox backing in the chorus.

The various instrument and vocal tracks were mixed using Audacity.
Unfortunately there was a slight amount of noise interference and clicking that I was unable to remove from the vocal, guitar and vox tracks, but it only seems to be really noticeable when the song is listened to through headphones, and nobody has noticed it until I've pointed it out to them.
However, I'll probably replace the offending parts and re-record the song at a later date.

Lyrics:

A forgotten voice from the distant past
Said to me nothing good would last
When I met you with your heart of gold
You thawed me out, I had a hand to hold

You healed my pain with my soul laid bare
I turned to you 'cause you showed you care
There was sadness, the times we cried
But it's alright because love is blind
____________________________________________________

I love when you hold me
There's nowhere I'd rather be
When darkness falls, your light is all I see
____________________________________________________
Life is easy when you are there
Precious moments for us to share
When you're down and you're feeling blue
You know I'll always be there for you

Time to love and a time to fight
Time to hold you through the night
Our love will last 'till the end of time
I am yours and baby, you are mine
_____________________________________________________

I love you for the love you give to me
And I love the way you make me see
I love you for the beauty in your soul
Love you today
Love you tomorrow
I love everything you are

Wow - I thoroughly enjoyed this! The vocals on this are outstanding. The subtle harmonies, and lo-fi sort of sound to the vocals - it really brings it all together and gives it a distinct mood. It sounds kind of sad, but also hopeful.

Great work, and thanks so much for sharing smile

Cheers,

Nice, mellow tune. I enjoyed it Andy. Liked the vox backing you referred to.

Hi Andy,

I think this is the first song of yours I've heard. What a nice introduction!

The words that came to me as I listened were "Drifting like a puffy white cloud on a summer breeze". The gentle harmonies fit perfectly and the backing tracks were perfect chpices. Maybe a little more on the drums, though?

A really nice listen! Those strings carry it so nicely!

Alan

Thank you Al-David. I couldn't agree more about the strings. I think that they really made this song tick.

It's often quite surprising how good a track can sound when mixing sounds together from different styles.
I've found it to be well worth experimenting with.

Thanks Scott.

I resisted the temptation to add a guitar solo to this one and went for a simple fingerstyle accompaniment on the strat instead.

For some songs, less is more don't you think ?

Thank you.
Those words certainly would fit the music like a glove.

Funny you should mention the drums. When I played the final mix to my dear wife, she said that she thought the drums were a little too imposing, so I dumbed the drum track down a little.

I do agree with you about that, but you can't argue with a wife can you, especially when the song is for her ? Haha.

Andy,

Lovely melody on the chorus and a warm vocal ( love the angelic background "voices") gives your song a sweet uplifting feel...
I hope it was well recieved!
I didn`t hear any clicks on the monitors.

Robert
