Hello Trygve,

While I cannot speak for FRAPS functionality with Band-in-a-Box, I do have personal experience with FRAPS.

FRAPS is a great program for monitoring your FPS (Frames Per Second) in PC Games. This is why it is so popular with the PC Gaming community. It's functionality as a screen capture software is hit or miss depending on what you are trying to do, something you may have noticed using it with Band-in-a-Box.

There are two main schools of thought doing video capture, software and hardware. While going into all the possibilities would be far too much for one post, I'll give you something to think on.

I see on your tag you are using Windows 8.1, have you upgraded to Windows 10 per chance? If so, thanks to Xbox integration, there is a pretty useful screen capturing function built in to Windows 10. You can find more details here:

What is more popular, and if you plan on doing much video capture, is hardware capture cards. This is the avenue I would recommending doing some research into. As you are using the card itself, they generally are a bit more user friendly then their software counterparts. An examples would be something similar in nature to this:

I love FRAPS, but I moved away from it for video capture long ago.

Hope this helps
