when I record in BIAB a midi track with my keyboard I do not hear real time my keyboard and what I'm recording. When I listen to the recorded track, however, I hear everything that I recorded.
What can I do? I use my old SY77 synth as midi controller.

The input from your controller is likely fine.

I think what you are hearing is the delay between when the MIDI signal from your keyboard gets to the computer, and when the computer gets the sound created and sent out to your speakers (monitors, headphones etc).

This is called Latency and is often solved by changing the driver type to ASIO (even ASIO4ALL works for some).

The issue is how long it takes the computer to generate the sound for the MIDI data it received.
ASIO is faster for this than the normal Windows default MME drivers.

There is also a newer WAS driver that may be available to try.

Prefs-Audio .. look for the 'Audio Driver Type' drop down list.
After changing this setting you can use the Drivers button to select various options for that Driver Type.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

rharv, I use a usb audio umc204hd and ASIO drivers and i have zero latency. If I use Reaper with record monitor enabled I hear the sound of midi controller what I record.

I wanted to do the same thing with BIAB.

Hi Cubalibre,

If you're using an ASIO driver, then you really should be hearing the notes as you record, as MIDI Thru should just play through the default synth automatically. Are you sure you're recording MIDI and not audio?

Let's go to Options - MIDI/Audio Driver Setup.

What's selected as the MIDI Input Driver?

Is "Use VST/DXi Synth" checked? It should be. Please click on VST/DXi Synth Settings next. What's selected as the Default Synth? Should likely be the Coyote WT.

You can close the DirectX/VST Window now, then click on Audio Settings, then Audio Drivers. Is "ASIO Always On" checked?

You will have some latency, by the way, but there shouldn't be enough latency to have an issue as long as you're using ASIO.

Thanks
Kent

Try changing the MIDI Out to MS Wavetable synth instead of your interface.

Looks like MIDI may be getting routed back out due to the output device selected.

Leave MIDI in as it is.

Also see if the controller is sending MIDI channel 1, if sForzando or such is your synth

On the Behringer UMC (I've got the 404), you will only hear the monitor through the headphone jack on the front of the unit. For some reason, monitoring does not come through the main outputs on the back of the unit. You can hear what is coming from the computer, but not the monitor mix of the input and the computer output (don't know why that is).

On my system, I just plugged a headphone amp into the headphone connection on the Behringer unit. Then I run a pair of headphones out one of the headphone amp outputs and my powered speakers through another headphone amp output and that way I can hear the mix through speakers.

Mine is new, so I've not discovered all possibilities, but this works for me.

Hi,

It looks like the Sforzando is selected as the default synth, that's likely the issue. You need to use something General MIDI-compatible as the default, or Band-in-a-Box won't be able to find the sounds it needs.

If you click VST/DXi Synth Settings and change the Default Synth back to Coyote WT, that should solve the problem. You can assign Sforzando to individual tracks by assigning a Hi-Q sound to the track, it's just not suitable as the default.

Thanks
