Back again. I've got an SGU loaded with RTs and they all work except one-1263 Piano.its in Slot2(see pic)and even if I change the RT for ANY other RT the track stays silent. The RT demo plays OK and if I insert 1263 into another SGU it plays as it should.Have I missed a step somewhere?Nothing is muted in F5 and the volume is up as you can see.Baffled. Wendy

Thanks for sending the song file. I figured out how to fix it, but I'm not sure how this happened.
When I first opened your song and clicked on the Plugins tab of the mixer, the Piano track said it had Sforzando on it, which is a synth and only for MIDI tracks, though it was an audio track with a RealTrack on it. So though the track name had turned green, it was still kind of a MIDI track, but trying to play audio, so was silent.
I tried to replicate this issue with a new song and wasn't able to (yet), but I did figure out how to fix yours. I clicked on the track, went to Select MIDI SuperTrack for this Track, picked a random one, clicked OK. Then I went to Select MIDI SuperTrack again, and chose "No MIDI SuperTrack" to remove it.
Now it's a normal MIDI track, without Sforzando, and I could switch to a RealTrack with no issues.
Was this song created with the 2018 version of BIAB, or is it an older song created with a previous version?
If you have a MIDI track with a Hi-Q sound applied to it, then add a RealTrack to that track without first either taking Sforzando off the track, or removing the SuperTrack if there is one (by selecting "No MIDI SuperTrack"), Band-in-a-Box gets confused about whether it's an audio track or MIDI, and the track goes silent.
I'm reporting the bug now. Thanks for letting us know about the issue!
Hi Noel and Kent. You have put so much thought into it.Thank you so much. The style is =COWB_GS.STY and slot2 is a midi-1-ACOUSTIC PIANO.Didnt like it so subbed 1263 Piano instead-and it wouldnt play.Being a bit ham-fisted Im notsure now if I managed to click on any submenu but I dont think so. Im using 2018Plus and am up to date-513.The original SGU now much modified by me is one o"Tonys Cover Songs"that were linked on here as free downloads so could be any age.Sorry. Thank you for the fix,Kent. Wendy

Thanks Kent for the detailed explanation. Obviously you put a bit of detective work into that.
BIAB & RB2026 Win.(Audiophile), Windows 10 Pro & Windows 11, Cakewalk Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Session Keys Grand S & Electric R, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M, Pioneer Active Monitors.
It seems like at some point you'd applied a Hi-Q sound to the track, or added a MIDI SuperTrack, which automatically added a Hi-Q sound.
You didn't do anything wrong, and there's no way you could have known that this would cause an issue. Band-in-a-Box really should have just removed Sforzando from the track automatically.
My fix should work right away though, I tested it pretty thoroughly.
Ah now you mention it,in the course of trying anoter piano in slot2 I think i did look at an MST or something midi before liking 1263. HOWEVER after fixing my SGU and resaving with new name I thought to open the old one with the prblem in RB which i am just starting to try and learn a bit about.Just lookin'.Lol.Q-why does it take such a long time to open an SGU in RB?Anyway, when it opened there is the Piano track! And it played!I saved it as a SEQ file but couldnt get that to work in BB afterwards so went back to RB,another long wait, and found out how to save as ?G?.It opened ok in BB and the darned Piano worked!Flip!!! Didnt do nothin'.Honest, Mister How did that fix it. Wendy

It was something I discovered around 3 or 4 years ago.
If one opens a corrupt or not-working SGU or MGU file in Realband and then saves it as SGU or MGU (with a new name to safeguard the original file), the problem with the file is often solved.
Realband strips away issues because when it opens BIAB, it doesn't load as many processes (at least that's how I understand it).
