When I use the Conductor feature with the file provided in the 2006 tutorial, it works. When I try to use it with my own files that use Real Tracks, it doesn't work. Also, when I change the style in the demo file to one that uses Real Tracks, it doesn't work.
Does this tool/feature only work with MIDI styles?

Jim,
I have not used this feature so I don't know for sure. I've had a look through Help, and that doesn't really shed any extra light on it, either. What you describe does make is sound like the feature is midi-only.
Have you tried it with a style that uses both Realtracks and MIDI to see what happens? These styles have '=' in front of their names.

Me: I just tried that, and it doesn't work with these styles either (based on trying two of them)

Hi Jim,
The Conductor still works great with all-MIDI styles, but has always been pretty sketchy with RealTracks. We don't have an immediate solution, but I just double-checked, and this is on the bug list.

I do not believe the Conductor function has ever worked for Real Tracks and I've posted this several times on this forum over the years. My guess is it would be a difficult issue for PG to address so it is not prioritized.
I too use BIAB for live jazz gigs, and have been doing so for the past 10 years. BIAB is very stable in Windows environments. I believe that Conductor working for Real Tracks could open new market opportunities for PG. I'm not aware of any similar tool.

Standard procedure for songs in jazz gigs is to play the head for the first chorus, improvise over a number of choruses then "head out", which means repeat the head through the last chorus. Real Tracks styles do this great as the bass "walks" on the middle choruses for most jazz styles.
sometimes things change during a gig so it would be great to simply add or subtract choruses while the song is playing. Conductor does this fine for styles totally midi but does not work reliably for styles using Real Tracks.
