Hi Dave,

I find myself wondering if this might be a mix up between Realstyles and MIDI styles.

I have been installing updated versions of BIAB over the top of older versions since 2006. In addition, as far as I can recall, I've bought all bonus packages along the way. My thoughts are that this should mean that I have every style.

When I filter the style list for 'reggae_' (without inverted commas, I get....

  • REGGAE_2
  • REGGAE_3

These are MIDI-only styles that were released in the mid-year update of 2002. I do not have any REGGAE_1 MIDI style.

In addition, when I filter the style list for 'reggae1' and 'reggae2' separately, I find...

  • _REGGAE1
  • _REGGAE2

These are Realstyles (i.e. use Realtracks) and were released with the end-of-year update in 2010. This is seen by the fact that these styles' names start with an underscore as the first character.

With the above in mind, is it possible that you friend has been using a MIDI style to create his songs and you've been looking for Realstyles to use in its place?

It would help a great deal towards solving your problem if you could use Dropbox or equivalent to post a download link to the song from your friend. Forum members could then have a look at things a little more closely. (If you want to keep the song private, just delete the chords and melody, save it as a new name and then post a link to that newly named file.)

Regards,
Noel
