The tracks you've assigned RealTracks to are the only ones affected by the style, so if you somehow managed to switch styles yet preserve those RealTrack and RealDrum selections, nothing would happen. The song would sound exactly the same, as you've overridden every track that the style was going to affect.
If you switch to a MIDI style, then those RealTracks should be removed and replaced with the MIDI instruments used by that style. If you don't want that happening, you shouldn't bother switching styles at all.
When i started my song project I selected a style just to start somewhere with an idea for a song i had and set the Bass, Piano, Drums, Guitar tracks one and two to play real drums and real tracks of my choice as well as the chords to play for this song.
Screen view:
Why can i not select a different styles for example ( screen view ) and thereby reset the original style i started with but still have the newly selected style maintain the B, P, D, G1, G2 real drums and real tracks ?
And so the song would play in a different style but using the real drums/tracks i want following the chords of the song.
Now when I do select a different style it loads the real drums/tracks for that style whereby i have to reset those tracks to play the drums/tracks i want. And, I did not select the load demo in style picker window.
Going back in my old memory this was possible many Mac Band in a Box versions ago.

I'm not sure if the Mac version is the same, but the PC version has this setting:
BIAB & RB2026 Win.(Audiophile), Windows 10 Pro & Windows 11, Cakewalk Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Session Keys Grand S & Electric R, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M, Pioneer Active Monitors.
You've already replaced every single track that the style would write music to with those RealTracks you chose though, so the underlying style is completely irrelevant.
Changing the style without overriding those RealTracks wouldn't do a single thing in this case, other than change the name of the style you see on the toolbar.
If i start ( create ) my project song using a tango style and subsequently would like to hear my song played in a blues style or a polka style or a Cuban/Latin style and so on and so on with the same real tracks would there not be a difference ?
Although i can change the styles for my project song i have to manually change the real tracks to use the instruments that i set in the original project because Band in a Box imposes its choice of the real tracks for that style . I understand that however perhaps there is a preference setting that i just can't see or find that will accomplish what i want when i change styles for the same song.
Thanks again for your time and especially patience with me in your replies. I very much appreciate that Kent.

I'm not sure if I follow exactly, but Real Tracks and Real Drums are pre-recorded audio phrases. The artist who made the recording, recorded the audio in a particular musical style complete with a particular musical feel.
Changing the Style changes some or all of the Real Tracks that are used, and therefore different pre-recorded audio phrases are inserted instead, recorded in a different particular musical style.
It's a bit like getting a Latin Band to play the chords of your song, and then asking a Rock band to play the chords of your same song.

What happens if you freeze the tracks you want to retain before changing the style?

Thank you very much VideoTrack,
that is an excellent point .

Hi W,
Exactly, there would be no difference. Any particular RealTrack will always play the exact same way, regardless of which style was originally selected. Switching styles would just replace those RealTracks with different ones, or with MIDI tracks. That's the whole point of switching styles.
If I select a jazz style and replace the tracks with heavy metal RealTracks, it'll sound like a heavy metal style. The original jazz style selection will be overridden, and irrelevant.
