Hi, all - I've posted this question before, and always get helpful answers... but I keep running into this problem.

Lets say I have a song:

1 | 2 | 3 | 4
5 | 6 | 7 | 8
9 | 10| 11 | 12


Now, suppose I want to delete bars 6, 7, 8, so that bar 5 hangs in it's own line. Here's my issue:

If I delete bars 6, 7, 8, i get (I can't screen shot this, so I'm showing the equivalent of:)
1 | 2 | 3 | 4
5 | 9 | 10 |11
12

When I go to 5 or 9, and do F5 "Start a new line", I get a red underscore at 5, but nothing else happens.

I'm trying to understand:
* Why?
* Why is this issue inconsistent? Sometimes I have the issue, sometimes not. I have found no cause / effect, and there are no known issues with the compute: I run an individual server in the studio, dedicated to audio and nothing else.
* What does that red underscore signify?
* Is this a computer problem, a program problem, a user problem?

It's annoying as $#@!... but if I can understand the failure mode, I can learn from it.
