Some of the Roland recorders (and others) do not compress, and actually can do 24bit wav.

It is a good thing to watch for in the specs, for sure; what format does it record at?

It'll be a little more $ for the good stuff!

Another thing to watch for is the media used ny the device.
Even if an SD card, if it only handles a 1 gig card, they may be hard to find.
I'd ask a few questions before deciding; lotsa pitfalls, but also some great units out there.

For some, the mp3 hi-res format may even be fine
