Hey Wiz,
Sorry your having so much trouble here.
Nah, you shouldn't have to activate it yet.
Before you throw in the towel, and wipe/re-install, I have one last ditch suggestion.

If you can navigate to the folder "/Applications/Band-in-a-Box/Styles" select it and hit "command+I" to "get info".
Then check to see if your account name is listed,
If not then click the padlock icon in the lower right and add your account name from the list (by clicking + in the lower left).
Then make sure that the permissions are set for "read & write" next to your account name, click the gear icon and hit "apply to all enclosed items".

Then relaunch BIAB rebuild the style list and see if your styles have come back.

This really shouldn't be necessary, but I have had problems in the past (not only with BIAB, but other programs as well) where an install package that contains thousands of files, sometimes gets the permissions messed up during the installation by Apple's installer program.

Hopefully you can give this a quick shot before spending hours to wipe and re-install.
Hopefully this helps.

- Jay
