Some very windy storms blew through St. Louis about 4:30 AM this morning and lopped off the top half of 3 old trees in our back yard that blanketed it in solid shade all summer long.
Captured some drone footage this afternoon for insurance. Luckily with the tons of fallen tree in the yard the house was damaged very little.
Glad you were relatively fortunate. We’ve come out on the bad side of that several times particularly with Hurricane Irma.

Thanks HTL and Bud. I am very fortunate not to have to worry about hurricanes hitting us in St. Louis. We do frequently get the storms from hurricanes that make landfall in the Gulf. They are usually quite weakened by the time they reach us.

We had something similar happen to us in Virginia a number of years ago. A storm (just shy of hurricane force) with extremely high winds swept across Virginia and took out two trees that landed on my roof, but didn't really do any real damage (a few dislodged shingles). My tree guy (we have a good relationship) came out to give me an estimate to take down the trees, but he couldn't do the work until the winds subsided (since they needed to use a cherry picker to get to it). So off they went to wait out the storm; however, I had to call them back two hours later for a new estimate when two more trees fell and took out my brand new deck, the deck furniture, and the gazebo we had on the deck. Scary times indeed. Luckily insurance covered all of it minus my deductible. USAA was great; they had declared the area a state of emergency and quickly processed all claims.

I am very glad that you and your family are safe and that little damage was done to your house.
Last March we had four trees come down do to wind speeds of over 80 MPH (128 KPM). We never had winds of that velocity before. We did not have any house damage, we were very lucky.
The bumper sticker said "I'm a veterinarian, therefore I can drive like an animal". Suddenly I realized how many proctologists are on the road.
