Amazing that you would say that. In my email to Rog when I sent the files over for mastering I used the phrase "I am going for a Johnny Cash kind of thing here." And the "sepia tone" feel for this was indeed inspired by that man in black's music.

And I guess I got the feel. Rog is able to take my sometimes badly worded thoughts and convert them into what I am hearing in my head. Sometimes it takes a few back and forths but eventually he gets the final result I am hearing. As all of you who write understand, there is often a sound in your head but you can't say what it is. It is like trying to describe "red" to someone who has never been able to see. I am so grateful that he is available because he manages to do things I try (badly) to do with my songs. But he is also a decent writer himself, so he understands that frustration level of what I mean when I say something opaque, like "I want the guitar to be angry on this one". He has to be able to determine what I mean by "angry" as it applies to the sound of a guitar, and he usually gets it right.
