I have the original version DP-24 that has the CD drive and midi inputs. Other than those feature differences, my unit is functionally the same as yours. There is an excellent and very thorough tutorial on YouTube by a fellow named Phil Tipping. I believe it is a series of 12 videos. It takes you through the unit as both a stand alone mixer and then as a recorder. I also recommend tutorials by ProaudioDVD's owned by David Wills and their product is approved by Tascam. Between those two products, you will understand the unit inside/out.

I am a big fan of Tascam recording equipment and the DP-24 in particular. I had the predecessor 2488neo and portastudios back to the 80's and 90's like you and have had a home recording studio of one form or the other continuously since 1968.

I've never suffered a crash or lost a file to corruption in any of the Tascam units I've owned over the years and it is very quick to be up and recording as compared to a PC/Mac and DAW. Don't be afraid of the Fx included with DP-24/32. They are basic but they compare very well with most VST's.

Enjoy your new unit and I hope you share some of your music with us here on the forum.
