Before Gibson Brands took over Tascam, I moderated the 788 and 2488 sub forums at Tascamforums.com. One thing I liked to point is that the 788 and the various 24’s are capable of 999 tracks in a project and even though the mixer channels above 12 are stereo channels, you can place 2 of your 999 tracks on those channels during mix down. They can be 2 mono tracks if you want, or you can bounce several tracks to stereo to give you single fader control over a bounced stereo mix at final mix down. That's right. And unlike the old analog bouncing, all the bouncing in the 2488 and DP series is digital so the audio doesn't degrade with each of the bounce downs.
