I copied a vocal track, then pasted it on a different track just slightly off to get that effect. After that, the original track I copied is mostly in the left channel and I cannot get it back to center. Any advice? Thanks! Bernie
Check Event List for a Control Change panning message (?) What happens when you pan it, does the panning dial 'stick' and show different than what you hear?

Vocals are a mono signal, so if you record them to a stereo track, they'll generally play through only one speaker. If you hit Edit - Track - Split a Stereo Track Into 2 Mono Tracks.
Then you'll have a blank mono track, and a mono track containing vocals, playing through both speakers (and pannable however you like).
In my mind there are 2 settings that would be good to pay attention to.
One is the MONO track type setting Kent mentioned above. "Change the Track Type to Audio - Mono before recording"
The other is in the audio Prefs section. Here you can set PT to record Left, Right or Both (L+R as shown below).
If it is set to both you'll get the desired MONO track but also record a second blank MONO track (the other side/channel). If you use the correct L/R selection option in Audio Prefs for a MONO track recording, you'll not have to go back and clean up the extra blank (wasted) tracks.
Just a workflow tip.
