Very expressive with a unique vocal quality. Sounds like it's being run through a Talk Box that isn't being talked into. As usual, you get a lot out of it with "just" the pick. I've really enjoyed listening to your sound develop, especially since you got your new amp.

Sounds like a Satch sound. I like to go onto Line 6 for my PODxtLive. They take a lot of the leg work out of making the overall tone. Then, I can tweak to taste from there.

I like the concept of the song. I like a tempo couple with the chord arrangements to play over. Very soulful.

What type of guitar and pickups are you using? They sound they have bite of a single coil. I like the fact that you are going for different degrees of depth for added color. It keeps the listener interested.

Nice job!

Swanman, you do like to tackle the giants. And I have to give you props for taking on this tune. Because we ended Lovers is one of the classic examples of the tonal genius of Jeff Beck. You gave it a good go. Thanks for sharing.

Recalling all your past contributions to the forum, it certainly does appear that you have been woodsheading. Your technique and tone have dramatically improved over that time. Ain't Music Wonderful!

And based on your recording solely in Audacity, I would propose a trade; I have some recording gear which I would be glad to trade for some of your guitar chops.

Hey Swanman. Sounds great. I have that same tone on my Behringer V-amp 2. It's an autowah. You can adjust it for more or little amounts of wahwah along with a great fuzz-tone. The guitar work is great, as usual. Keep on pickin'.

Swanny,

as to keeping it your main tone - everything but the wah would be appropriate tone for a 'main' sound - at least distorted/overdriven. I would use automation on the wah to tame it somewhat.

In reading your first post - are you somehow using the UX2 for the first amp and effects, then playing through an actual Marshall amp on a clean setting and recording the amplifier mic'ed?

If so, why not record directly from the UX2 into your computer?

I'm just curious.

I'm not using a wah at all, rockstar.

I find that playing directly through my amp and using the UX2 as, basically, a pedal, gives a much richer and authentic tone. I will try going direct through the comp. Maybe that'll make the damn latency go away.

Excellent effort, Swanny. I'm not familiar with that tune but I like it. I know, I'm just a board player right?
It does sound to me like there's some wah on there though. Especially around the 1:17 mark.
This tune is obviously for showcasing your considerable guitar chops but a comment about the drums: They're way too stiff and mechanical especially the snare rolls, they have that dreaded machine gun effect which is a dead give away for overly quantized midi drums. Strictly from a music producers point of view, try to loosen up the drums a bit in the edit window, maybe find some better drum samples too, it would make the whole thing sound better but still the point of this is your playing which is outstanding.

There's definitely autowah going on in the sound. If you look in the Line6 patch in the computer, I'll bet a nickel that there's an autowah effect in line somewhere. It may show up as a 'filter' in the list. It's responding to signal dynamics. Similar feature in lots of amp simulation hardware and software. Normally not part of a 'signature' tone, but an effect that has it's place used infrequently.

Also, there's a way with the UX2 to monitor more directly I thought - to help avoid latency. I almost bought that unit 3-4 years ago but I got very crummy responses from the tech support guy. Have you played with the latency settings of the ASIO drivers? You should be able to get rid of most noticeable latency so you can play expressively.

Good point, rock. If you use the actual "wha wha" that they offer, it sounds crappy, IMO. Theres definately some kind of something that's giving it a bit of a wha sound, no doubt. Beats me what it is. I'm sure you're right.

Just discovered that you can put your headphones on ( plugged directly into the UX2 Unit) and you dont need a mic for recording nor do you need your amp thats on the ground in front of you. Ahh...the wonders of USB...:) It sounds absolutley fabulous and latency is gone. Now, if i can only get the sound of the backing track to go into my head phones, I'll be straight. I'd highly recommend this thing to anyone who plays guitar. For $200.00 american, cant beat it.

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
