Well, it may kinda happen again.

In my mind there are 2 settings that would be good to pay attention to.

One is the MONO track type setting Kent mentioned above.
"Change the Track Type to Audio - Mono before recording"

The other is in the audio Prefs section. Here you can set PT to record Left, Right or Both (L+R as shown below).

If it is set to both you'll get the desired MONO track but also record a second blank MONO track (the other side/channel).
If you use the correct L/R selection option in Audio Prefs for a MONO track recording, you'll not have to go back and clean up the extra blank (wasted) tracks.



Just a workflow tip.
