OP BIGALTX Enthusiast Joined: Aug 2018 Posts: 18	"PRIME THE PUMP" is my second posting. It's a song I wrote several years ago. Prime The Pump https://soundcloud.com/user-791803839/prime-the-pump I can't find the BB file showing what style, instruments, etc I used right now. If I find it, I'll edit this post. I laid off music for a while, but hopefully, I'm back and can share a few things. All music tracks in this song are BIAB... 100%. Even though personally, I play guitar, bass, and keys, I could live 3 lifetimes and never be as good a "picker" as the BIAB contributors. So why not use them ?!? I've been using BIAB for 15+ years. When they came out with "Real Tracks"... I was like WOW. LOVE Band In A Box! Lyrics: "PRIME THE PUMP" I thought her love for me would never run dry. But I just drew from her till she couldn't give any more. When she turned to leave, my whole life flashed before my eyes. And I remembered what my Daddy told me O so long ago. Well, he said prime the pump if you want her to love you from the heart. If you want to receive you must expect to be givin' right from the start. That old "something for nothing" won't work, when it's love that gets you over the hump. Oh, don't you know that you reap what you sow? You know you gotta prime the pump. So if, my friend, in love you're coming up empty. And you've been to the well once too often it seems. Always finding nothing where you know something ought to be. Let me tell you a secret that was handed down to me. You must prime the pump if you want her to love you from the heart. If you want to receive you must expect to be givin' right from the start. Great lyrics, but I certainly didn't expect slide guitar and a country setting. Catchy, well sung, nice arrangement. Nice background vocals. I especially liked the key change at the end. So why not use them ?!? Yeah, I know that song! A bit of nit-picking: there's a bit of "boxiness" to the lead vocal. It sounds like it's room ambiance, but my ears aren't good enough to say for sure. Agree with the comments on the voice, a subtle compressor same reverb just a touch, I think would stop the direct sound on the vocals. Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
