Take01 21 8 2018

Hi all
I made a video of just playing whatever comes for 9 minutes, reduced to 3 minutes. Band-in-a-box was later wrapped around the piano. The midi sounded pretty unremarkable... BIAB saved the performance. Sorry I didn't tidy up my room!

Thanks Scott, at the 32 seconds mark of this song, my piano parts ways with BIAB... Not sure for a solution... I am still exploring Key modulation on the fly.

I think my chord mapping is probably still missing a counterpoint component...

Species counterpoint is a method used for centuries to teach students how to compose the sort of counterpoint found in the works of Palestrina. ... For each stage the student is asked to write a different species (or type) of contrapuntral line to go with a given melody in semibreves called the cantus firmus.

I have tried to avoid this; I need to better prepare key change targeting for improvisation. It would have sounded better replacing my piano with a BIAB pano as the final piano track... no doubt! If I can write music progressions on the fly and BIAB can make it sound better! I am happy

Thanks Deryk - PG Music
It's a fake jam !!! I just played to a tic-toc, while recording it all to a midi file. Then opened the midi file with Band-in-a-Box 2018. The project is in my Tethered 2018 link below. I changed the style often, but I kept RealTracks as is, unedited...

Thanks so much for listening

I like it! Interesting arrangement and changes. As far as the room ... looks spic and span compared to my office! But it didn't hurt your performance any! Best to ya,

Alan

Hello, LPman

Very unique.
The music style will change more and more, but it sounds comfortable.
Very strange!
I could not understand Tethered 2018 so well though I read them.
It seems completely different from the music theory I learned.
Nevertheless,
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

I normally don’t like to watch videos of people playing music… But I’m glad I stuck through it to get a better understanding of what you were trying to accomplish… I have to admit, I don’t understand the theory you were talking about in your comments, but it interested me to see that you were freeform playing and then attempting to flush out the composition based on what you had originally entered. I think that, based on your approach, the result was remarkable.

I certainly wish that I had a level of keyboard in theory skill that was evident in the video, I have to work much harder to come up with something that has value!

Thanks for helping expand my thinking regarding what can be done with music and with BIAB.

Thanks Shigeki Adachi,
I will have to eventually explain my music theory, but would like to make some normal songs, that satisfies a simpler memorable progression. Thanks for listening, and your support

Thanks Tano Music,
The freeform approach is my way of testing how diverse my key modulation really is... Now I have to prove to myself that I can write regular songs with good hooks.... I am glad this forum exists... I really appreciate your valued comments, and all those who took the time to watch and listen.

Some cool music there! It appears you are lying down? Is that how you chose your handle? No criticism here....I lie down every chance I get. I'm a swimmer and my wife teases me, saying I even exercise lying down. Some nice stuff! Take care. Greg

Hi Greg

Yes, my "handle" is the lazyPianoMan. There maybe jokes\ questions in the future about private piano lessons...
I think I am the only piano man who makes video's playing piano in bed. This way, I suffer no extra back pain problems.
Thanks for listening, and sharing your comments.

Thanks so much Torrey... I read recently that music theory is a description, not a prescription. I made some updates towards making it lean towards a prescription... hoping things will continue to work out... thanks so much for your support
