My entry for the Xtra Styles 5 competition: Last Thoughts On Lady Macbeth Link: https://soundcloud.com/phil-babylon/last-thoughts-on-lady-macbeth Style used: _RAININ+ from the Country Category There are three additional instruments: RT1757 Accordion Pop RT2024 Piano RT2854 Harmonica Before she married Macbeth I was her lover But I could not fulfill her dreams So she went in search of another She longed for power She longed for riches She believed in divinations And the prophecies of witches So even though I loved her so I chose to let that wild lady go Before she married Macbeth I was her sweetheart And I did the best that I could To heal her mad mind and bring her comfort But she was always a wierd sister And I knew it in an instant The very first time that I kissed her So even though I loved her so I chose to let that wild lady go Macbeth he was no angel himself In fact he had some pretty strange thoughts Running round in his head But you can be sure They all got even more Mixed up and muddy Tangled and bloody Once he had her in his bed Blood will have blood so they say And such their devotion Once they got used to the feel of it on their hands They spilled an ocean They were truly a star-crossed couple And once they met up there was bound to be trouble So even though I loved her so I chose to let that wild lady go Phil Babylon 2018 Some background (for those interested): I was recently acting in a big outdoor production of Macbeth. I wasn't the terrible Thane himself - just his chief henchman. But, as such, I did get to murder a lot of people and spill a lot of stage blood. One particular day during rehearsals, I was watching the actress playing Lady Macbeth go through a scene and I was struck how much the character of Lady Macbeth reminded me of my first serious girlfriend. Thankfully a short relationship. God knows what prison or long-stay instituition prolonged association with her might have led me to. She was truly a - very - wierd sister. I spent about a month trying to get this song into a waltz-time format but was unhappy with the result. I was about to ditch the whole thing, but a last attempt using this Americana style came together in a couple of hours.
