- That sounds like the feature to speed up RealTracks generation isn't working for you. The feature works with DirectX, so is somewhat related to things like DXi synths, DXi AudioPlugins, and DirectX. So perhaps none of these are in use on your system, and need to be in use for the feature to work.
For example, maybe the Windows 7/64 user needs some kind of DXi synth to at least be installed, if not selected. Or the DIrectX Audio plugins checkbox to be checked (Prefs-Audio - Use Direct X Plugins) . Or maybe installing the DirectX Audio Plugins that we include.
- First, for diagnostic purposes, try disabling the Prefs-RealTracks- Speed up generation of RealTracks, and see if the problem goes away (of course your RealTracks generation speeds won't be fast then). Then at least we know that is the same issue, and then enable the Speed up again, and try the fixes below:
- To get the fast generation working, there may need to be a DXi at least installed on your machine, so you could install either the included Roland VSC DXi (32 bit OS only) , or the Forte DXi demo (32 or 64 bit OS - demo link below) . The easiest way of finding out if you have any DXi installed, is options-MIDI Drivers-Use DXi, and then see if any Dxi devices (not VST) are listed in the first combo list in the dialog.
(64 bit O/S like Windows 7/64 won't be able to use the Roland VSC DXi - it wont install -, so you could try the Forte DXi to test this out

If you do have one Dxi (not a VST, a DXi) installed, try choosing Options-MIDI Drivers- Use DXi and see if the fast generation returns. Also coudl try Prefs-Audio-Use Audio Plugins. It is possible that (the Windows 7/64 testers didn't have any problem like this, but perhaps they all had at least one DXi installed, like Forte or VSC). If the above doesn't work, you can disable the feature as above until it gets sorted out.
Note that if one of the fixes works (enabling using DXi in the Options-MIDI Drivers or (2) enabling use Direct X AudioPlugins), then it will likely work for the whole session (ie you can turn use DXi off).
