Sounds like it could have been a Merle Haggard song in the day.

Nice.
Herb, thanks for all that. Haggard was a huge influence on my country side. I appreciate your comments, Tom

Dave, glad you liked it. This started as an exercise trying to get back to some steel playing and mushroomed from there. Thanks again, Tom

Tom,

It's really great to see you appear in the forum again. You've definitely been missed.

What I love most about your compositions and presentations is that every time I listen, I hear nothing but pure quality... your playing, your singing, your writing, your mix and production all work together like a really slick Olympic gold-medal team. It's ALWAYS a pleasure to sit back, close my eyes and listen.

I really enjoyed everything about this.

All the best,
Noel

Classic Cry-in-your-beer Country, through and through.

Great to see ya back, Tom! (Even if it's just for a bit...)

You have the perfect vocal tone for these type songs. That Vern Gosdin kind of thing...

Awesome production/arrangement and mix. Crystal clear (as always). The acoustic guitars sound great. Nice steel (so cool that you can add that yourself - hardly fair, ya know...)

Excellent.

fj
floyd, thanks for the kind comments. Vern was the man along with being known as “the voice “. It was fun to revisit this classic style, Tom

Whoa...does that ever set the tone for a killer classic country tune. Janice was immediately and I mean immediately singing harmony. And she said, "that's one I'll wake up in the morning hearing!"

Janice and I both kinda looked at each other and agreed when floyd mentioned Vern. Never thought about that but, yeah!

A fine treat for us all. Tom steel, Tom write, Tom vocals and a Tom great mix.

This one would sit right in with ANY classic country playlist!

Kudos...

A big thanks to you both. I don’t know about this Vern thing. I am not worthy of such a comparison but I’ll gladly take it, Tom

Tom,

What a great surprise and treat to hear a new one from you. I, too, played this style of music for close to fifty years - made a very good living doing it and having one heck of a time.

Wow, this hits all the high points of classic country. I fully agree with the Vern Gosdin comment - also Gene Watson comes to mind.

As many have said - nothing not to like and everything to put a smile on the face of a true country fan. Simply perfect!

Alan

Obviously, the production was what I would expect from you...lacking. Ha! So kidding! Top notch of course! I love how you manage clean AND warm. So NOT easy.

You definitively picked the perfect tempo to create the correct pacing for the entire song. Classic all the way around.

I would sit here and continue to drool over your song while writing my comments; but it will wreck my equipment. Great job again Tom!

Late to the party, but wow.

I really enjoyed the lyrics - great country write, solid production, well sung. Everything sits nicely in the mix, the arrangement of the instruments stepping in and out is seamless. It may seem odd to hear, but I especially liked how you slipped in that tambourine!

Excellent all around. laugh

This came out the gate Gold - Platinum not too far away. Traditional, classic and a little steel guitar. Chris Stapleton has another one available to help rehabilitate Country...

Loved it from start to finish.
