Drove downtown this evening at sunset for a couple of flyby views of the Arch. It recently got some upgraded lighting that illuminates it nicely. It's about a 10 minute drive from my house on the Illinois side.
Sensational Vision, Steve. You really have mastered that gadget. I'm impressed! Trev

I have a Blade Chroma 1080 camera Drone With the Yuneec ST-10 Controller
I had not heard of that one before. I looked it up on Amazon. That's a cool drone you have. Very similar in shape and style to my bird. You could use it to track any strange critters sneaking around the farm.
Only because I'm not flying it, LOL. For shots like this I program the drone's course with a Google Map-like interface. Takes away the pilot error issues.
wow, I see why its so good! It's priced like a guitar!
Much as I would love to have a drone of that quality... I'd have a hard time parting with $1,500 for an item I'd probably not use often enough to justify the cost.
I tried buying a cheap drone, then using film editing to stabilize the footage, but that approach is not worthy to be compared to the truly stable footage a good drone delivers!
Wow Steve! You've gotta love the low light capabilities of the camera. The sky was a beautiful background for an already great subject. You captured it very well.
So are you using DJI's software, Litchi, or something else?
Very nice, very smooth!
Thanks for posting it!

Lilly and I were at a SAR training last year and one of the other folks not on our team had one of those phantoms. Really nice machine. He flew it across a very large lake, over the ridge on the other side and found another team in the fields beyond our view. Instructed it to return and it came right back home and landed on the same exact spot it left from. Very impressive little drone. As it was returning home, he talked about many of it's capabilities such as way point travel, hands off holds, object avoidance, and more.
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.com Add nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both.
The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

Litchi. DJI GO does not have the offline waypoint programming that Litchi does. I believe you have to fly the course manually to set the waypoints on DJI's app. Litchi has a Google Maps-like interface that you can program on any web browser. Then you open the app on your phone and have access to the map. When you fire up the drone, the map gets sent directly to it so you do not have to pilot at all.

Yeah, you would think I wouldn't be so lazy being a member on a PG forum. I tend to want to rush the video out before I get music to it. I'll try to work on that.

Totally agreed. During the 1 year plus that I've had it now, the 2 crashes I had were when I was flying manually at low altitude, aka trees.
Here's the map I made from my laptop of the Arch course:

You probably tried to grab the .PNG I put in there originally. I found that did not show on the page and was an attachment. I changed it to a .JPG so it would show. Just refresh your page.

Indeed. I use Litchi day in and day out and mostly love it. There are a few quirks and things you need to anticipate but overall it's a great app.
