At least in midi, I've had melodist write entire melodies that were coherent and even beautiful. I'll admit that is fairly rare, but more likely if you "embellish melody".

What has been more likely (again, with midi) has been an editable track with at least major portions that needed little or no editing.

In addition, the Soloist function also is capable of coming up with coherent melody, if you choose a solo instrument.

Musically, it is not uncommon to borrow what is a harmony line from other pieces and create melodies with those same notes, so even the harmonist function may produce melodic lines. I've certainly used it for tasty fills.

Of course, all of the above can be "inspiring". Another inspiring feature is the "scales" function (under soloist). In addition, it gives you a midi track to play with.

There are other functions that either weren't in my old version or I've never explored that, from cursory reading/viewing, can create melody lines.

I've not explored any real melody creation with Real Tracks. Just can't answer, as I'm new to this development.

Lastly, I've found that if melodist has trouble "melodizing", it may be that some chords are outside the key...even that the key is not set correctly. Trust me...I can do that. wink
