You can't mix and match MIDI and Real on the same track within a style. If you start out with a RealStyle piano on say the piano track, and then invoke a substyle that uses a MIDI piano on the piano track, it's just not going to play. And vice versa. I'm not sure it this is what is happening, but it is definitely one of the ways to keep a track from playing properly.

As I understand it, if you switch from RealTrack to RealTrack, that should work (but I would have to test it) and switching from MIDI to MIDI on the same track has worked for a very long time.
