Sorry for the stupid question, but is there a way in biab to enter tabs and have that write the notes? Or is this just wishfull thinking?

I've tried writing the TAB indirectly by playing with the notes. Go into the Editable Notation Mode in the Notation Window (if it is a Melody then make sure you first specify the Track Type -- under the Melody Menu -- Choose "Guitar"). Place a note on the staff using your mouse, then slide it up or down or sideways until you get what you want. You can adjust the position as to which strings it goes onto by "Right-Clicking" on the note, and Choosing Edit Note... a Dialogue window will open up.. choose the desired channel i.e. Ch 11 to Ch 16 -- Ch 11 is the high E String, Ch 16 is the low E.

Good Luck.

I just checked and I noticed you can also open the Guitar Fretboard (make sure it is "SET" properly i.e Click on the SET Button on the Guitar Fretboard, then check the box "Send Notes to Notation Window" ). After that, if you click on any position, you'll see the note and the TAB position both appear. You must be in the Editable Mode... To advance the time, use your mouse and click in the brown space above the notes where you want to be..., there is a small vertical black line indicating your position...

If you will search on this subject under my name (BB for Windows forum) you will find out how to do what you want. Basically, what I do is create my guitar tab line by first making a piano midi file using G cleft piano notation for the entire song. I use Music Time Deluxe for this but you can do this using the BB music editor also, just takes a little longer. Then I open the Guitar fret board and use the notation editor to adjust the position of each note is played on the fretboard to match the positions found in the tabs that I am inputing. If they are my licks then I adjust them to the position I play them. Hope this helps. BB has a very good Tap notation editor, but I still don't know how to put in Bends, hammer ons, and pull offs, etc. If they fix that, then it will be great. Lots of times you can find midi tab files for the song you are interested in on the internet, see Ultimate Guitar Tabs on internet. You can use these midi files to do the same thing as above as long as you know the cords for the song, most of the time they are provided with the tabs. As Peter would say, have fun.
