2b, what you are hearing is called latency. That is usually caused by your audio interface (sound card) drivers. If you are using either a MME or WAS driver change it to ASIO. If your audio interface does not support ASIO drivers then download the free ASIO4ALL driver. The ASIO4ALL driver works most all of the time. The best method is to use the native, the ASIO driver that came with your audio interface, driver. If yours does not support native ASIO drivers then it is time to consider buying a new audio interface.

Band-in-a-Box 2026 Video: AI Stems & Notes - split polyphonic audio into instruments and transcribe
This video demonstrates how to use the new AI-Notes feature together with the AI-Stems splitter, allowing you to select an audio file and have it separated into individual stems while transcribing each one to its own MIDI track. AI-Notes converts polyphonic audio—either full mixes or individual instruments—into MIDI that you can view in notation or play back instantly.
