Dear Shigeki & Mr. Sperrazzo...
You two, talented musicians are keeping alive the somewhat submerged tradition of "BBB" -- big band ballads!
As usual, Shigeki, your arrangement and orchestration of "When I Dance with You" is so silky in its instrumental textures, and swings so elegantly that anyone would think you had studied under Basie, or Sammy Nestico.
Mr. Sperrazzo, your singing of your own inspired lyrics for Shigeki's luxurious melody is youthful-sounding, appealing, and so clearly vocalized that a listener would feel as though they were an audience of one.
Shigeki, whoever it is that sings the song in Japanese is quite emotive and expressive in his own way. Please communicate that to him, won't you? In fact, it would be great to watch both of them in a video taking turns singing verses alternately in Japanese and English. I think that would be a quite a crowd-pleaser.
This is classy, danceable big-band jazz music. Thanks for the memories, gentlemen!
Sincerely,
LOREN (a.k.a. "bluage")

And I am deeply moved to the maximum compliments to the orchestration. I thank Tom a lot for collaborating with me this time. Tom is a great lyricist and vocalist as good as you are. I am very happy that he re-produced my song as an American standard-like song. I am always very encouraged by your kind words.

I know I'm coming late to the party but...
I just listened to this great arrangement and was very impressed!
I'd like to ask a few technical questions if I may Shigeki.
If I understand correctly all recording and mixing was done using BIAB/RealBand? Or were the vocals recorded using a different software?
Also, how much time in total (approximately) did it take you to come up with the recording and mix of the entire project?

Hello BIABman,
Thank you very much for taking the time to listen and comment. I am really glad you like this tune. And many thanks for your interest in the process of making this song. I would like to explain briefly.
I'm using Cubase as my DAW. First, I typed all the chord progressions including the intro and ending into BAIB and chose the style. This time I use _TREPID1.STY (Trepid Simple Symph Jazz Ballad). And then I export all tracks individually in WAV and load them into Cubase. Composing string parts, and programing them by MIDI, and I played them in VST instruments which are EastWest Symphonic Orchestra. After mix down, I completed the sound source of all parts except vocals. I sent the WAV file of it to Tom(Tano Music) over the net. He recorded a vocal track listening to it, and he sent the WAV file of the vocal track back to me. After that, I added the vocal track to the above Cubase file, and mixed them again, and I completed this song. I think it took about one week to complete the entire process, including arrangements and online exchanges.
I thank Tom a lot for collaborating with me. I am very encouraged by your kind words.
Best regards.

I also want to thank my forum friends for their kind feedback. It was fun to work with Shigeki and he was very helpful and supportive in my project to add English lyrics to his fine composition—and he used his technical skills to make my vocal recording sound quite professional!
